1. Rainscreen Clips
The Raindog rainscreen clip is the simplest and most cost effective way to provide a rainscreen cavity behind vinyl siding. The clip eliminates the need for strapping altogether, saving time, materials and money. The rainscreen cavity produced by the clip is much more efficient than that produced by strapping- the clip allows cross-ventilation between adjacent cavities and the clip has minimal contact with the wall surface. Because the clips stack together so efficiently, installers can carry the equivalent of hundreds of lineal feet of wood strapping in their tool pouch!
Installation is simple:
Fit the clip over top of the nailing hem, behind the panel.
Align the clip with the nail slot, insert nail and drive normally.
No ‘packing out’ of windows or corners is required. Simply order your j-trim and corners ‘one size up’ to allow for the thickness of the clip.
As an added bonus, the Raindog clip test results show that wind resistance of the vinyl panels is substantially improved (up to 80%) . The Raindog Rainscreen clip is warranted by Mitten Vinyl products, Royal Vinyl products, Vytec Vinyl products, and Gentek vinyl products.
Specifications:

The Raindog Vinyl Rainscreen Clip wall system passed uniform load
pressure tests of 2,750Pa (57.2 psf) as per ASTM D5206-96. This is the basic standard for vinyl siding wind load resistance on homes. Most Vinyl siding will blow off the wall under 90 miles per hour winds, where the Raindog Clip acts as a washer over the siding nailing point, and has withstood wind loads of up to 200 miles per hour!
The Raindog Vinyl Rainscreen Clip wall system passed section 14 of ASTM C1185-03 for
Heat/Rain testing.
